We’d like to give a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the Newburg Lions Club, which sponsored the community event “Pictures with Santa,” on November 28, 2020 for a three-hour session for children to visit with Santa Claus! Santa greeted children, keeping safe distancing in mind, while passing out candy canes and gift bags filled with candy, popcorn, and a juice pack. The kids and adults that brought them enjoyed working on crafts like; Ornament Making, Card Making, and Snowman Magnets. There was also a coloring contest with a prize for three age groups. All of the children enjoyed counting, “How many candy canes are in the jar?” for a raffle, with the prize being all the candy canes from the jar. The adults weren’t left out of the fun either, with a raffle for a 4-hour rental of the Community Center. There were plenty of pre-wrapped snacks, beverages, and root beer floats enjoyed by all! This year included a “Giving Tree” and a food barrel for donations that will benefit local residents during this difficult year. Look for this fun event again next year; Santa always arrives the Saturday after Thanksgiving! Hope to see you there!
